Need
Sometimes you don't realise that you have a need, till IT gets fulfilled . . .
. . . you don't realise that you are hungry till you take the first bite of that sandwich . . .
. . . the breeze is cool, n u feel nice, but a jacket suddenly makes you feel better . . .
. . . you have the greatest family and friends but the thought of THAT one person going away is very unpleasant . . .
You needed that sandwich, that jacket and that person all along . . . just that the realisation of the NEED came after IT was fulfilled!!

Agreed! Agreed! But pal, is it really a need or a desire! Had it been a need wouldn’t you have been aware of it?
A scholarly soul once said “Tell me what you need, and I’ll tell you how to get along without it”. Maslow talks about need in his hierarchical model in which most of the civilized world belives in. But need is very basic (not the basic needs) unlike desire or want, every human defines it on their own parameters and strive to achieve it through the means available to them. Similarly fulfillment of needs would derive different emotions in different individuals, It’s not necessary that awareness of desire would qualify it as need.
